pieces of berlin

– english below –

peter; 66; rentner und restaurateur;

peter; 66; pensioner and restaurateur;
„i grew up in friedrichshain, fled to the west and ended up back in the east after the wall came down. there was something new starting here, and i have to say that east-berliners are nicer and the intelectuals are not as arrogant as the onces in the west.
part of my family stayed in charlottenburg. some people there still say ‘i don’t like to go to the east’ – when we once visited there with our brandenburg license plate, we heared people shout ‘blöde ost-fotze (stupid eastern cunt)’ – i’ll never forget that. it’s a shame that you can’t get that out of people’s heads. we are one city.”
